Professional Image (Dress Code)

All Future Professionals must adhere to the following professional dress code while in attendance:

  1. Clothing should be black, white or gray, in any combination. No other colors are permitted.
  2. Clothing should be professional and clean.
  3. Shoes should be professional, practical, and comfortable. Any color shoes may be worn. No flip flops.
  4. Hair should be styled prior to arriving at school.
  5. Any cosmetics should be applied prior to arriving at the school.
  6. For shirts and blouses, the midriff (belly) must be fully covered at all times. No crop tops, tube tops or spaghetti strap shirts.
  7. For shorts, skirts and dresses, the garment must be no higher than fingertip length, unless opaque tights or leggings are worn underneath.
  8. Clothing may not contain political messages, profanity, and/or other industry related logos. Paul Mitchell cosmetology branded logos only.
  9. If worn, capes, smocks, and aprons must be all black or black with a Paul Mitchell logo.

The following is a list of unacceptable dress for all Future Professionals in attendance:

  1. No spaghetti strap tops. No tube tops or crop tops/belly revealing shirts.
  2. No shorts, dresses, skirts and skorts that are shorter than fingertip length, without opaque tights or leggings underneath.
  3. No flip flops.
  4. Clothing with colors other than black, white or gray.

Examples of ACCEPTABLE attire may include:

  1. Bottoms:
    • Jeans or clothing made of jean material. Large rips or tears must fall below the fingertips when standing.
    • Shorts, dresses, skirts and skorts that are no shorter than fingertip length, unless opaque tights or leggings are worn underneath.
  2. Tops:
    • Printed and unprinted sweatshirts, t-shirts, hooded sweatshirts, and/or jackets may be worn, but may not contain political messages or branding, profanity, or other industry related logos.
  3. Accessories:
    • Baseball hats, stylish hats, caps, stylish head wraps, or beanies may be worn in ANY color, but may not contain political messages, profanity or other industry related logos.
  4. Shoes in any color.
  5. Paul Mitchell or school-branded apparel that otherwise meets the requirements.
  6. Clothing may be worn in black, white, or gray for all Future Professionals.

Future Professionals who fail to comply with the Future Professional dress code may be coached and may receive an advisory.
